HYDRAA Removes Encroachments in Gachibowli and Shamirpet, Saves Park and Restores Road Access
HYDRAA carried out a major encroachment removal drive in Hyderabad, saving a 2,500-square-yard park in Gachibowli and clearing illegal road blocks in Shamirpet.

The HYDRAA carried out encroachment removal operations at two different locations in a single day, protecting public land and restoring access for residents.

The civic body saved a public park in Gachibowli and removed road encroachments in Shamirpet, bringing relief to local residents who had raised complaints through Prajavani.
2,500-Sq-Yard Park Saved in Gachibowli
In Gachibowli, HYDRAA protected a 2,500-square-yard park located in Telecom Nagar.
According to officials:
- A 32-acre layout was approved in 1982 by the then HUDA
- 4,000 square yards were officially earmarked for a park
- Around 1,500 square yards had already been encroached upon and houses had come up
- Attempts were made to encroach upon the remaining 2,500 square yards claiming it as private plots
Following complaints from Telecom Nagar residents, HYDRAA conducted a field-level inspection along with Revenue and GHMC officials.
Encroachments Removed, Fencing Installed
As per the directions of HYDRAA Commissioner A. V. Ranganath, officials confirmed the land was reserved for a park.
HYDRAA then:
- Removed fresh encroachments on the remaining park land
- Installed official boards declaring the area as park land
- Erected fencing to prevent future encroachments
Residents welcomed the move, saying the park space was finally secured for public use.
Road Encroachments Cleared in Shamirpet
In another operation, HYDRAA removed illegal road encroachments in Shamirpet, located in Medchal–Malkajgiri district.
At Friends Colony, a layout spread across 4.20 acres (Survey No. 1198) was approved in 1987. However:
- A 20-foot-wide road was encroached upon
- Illegal compound walls and gates were constructed
- The access road leading towards Shamirpet Police Station was blocked
Long-Standing Complaint Finally Resolved
After receiving a complaint through Prajavani, HYDRAA verified the encroachment on the ground and removed the illegal structures on Thursday, restoring the road.
Local residents expressed happiness, stating that:
- They had been complaining for over 15 years
- HYDRAA’s intervention finally restored their right of way
- The road is now accessible to all colony residents
HYDRAA Reaffirms Stand Against Encroachments
Officials said HYDRAA will continue strict action against encroachments on public parks, roads, and open spaces to protect civic infrastructure and public interest across Hyderabad and surrounding districts.
