CS Ramakrishna Rao, DGP Shivadhar Reddy Review ‘Arrive Alive’ Programme to Curb Accidents in Telangana

Telangana Arrive Alive programme launched to reduce road accidents with awareness campaigns, safety measures, and public participation from April 13–18.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Arrive Alive programme has been launched as a major road safety initiative under the 99-day Praja Paalana Pragati Pranalika to tackle the rising number of accidents across the state.

Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao conducted a video conference with District Collectors, stressing urgent action to improve road safety in Telangana.

Why Road Accidents Are Increasing in Telangana

During the review, officials highlighted key reasons behind the rise in accidents:

  • Rapid increase in number of vehicles
  • Improved road infrastructure leading to higher speeds
  • Lack of proper driver training
  • Over-speeding and reckless driving

The government emphasized the need for innovative and localized solutions to reduce accidents.

Instructions to District Collectors for Arrive Alive Programme

The Chief Secretary directed all District Collectors to:

  • Conduct District Road Safety Committee meetings immediately
  • Implement the Arrive Alive programme effectively across Telangana
  • Ensure public participation and awareness
  • Involve local public representatives for wider outreach

Arrive Alive Programme Schedule (April 13–18)

The Telangana Arrive Alive programme will run from April 13 to 18 with focused activities:

Day-wise Activities

  • April 13: Formation of Village-level Road Safety Committees
  • April 14: Road Safety Pledge near Dr. B.R. Ambedkar statues on Ambedkar Jayanti
  • April 15: “Children Road Safety Day” promoting seat belt use
  • April 16: Awareness campaigns for government employees on helmets & seat belts
  • April 17: “Golden Hour” emergency response training
  • April 18: Counseling sessions for traffic violators

Focus on Pedestrians and Two-Wheeler Riders

Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy stated that:

  • Pedestrians and two-wheeler riders form the majority of accident victims
  • Special campaigns will target these vulnerable groups
  • The programme involves multi-department coordination

₹Efforts Strengthened for Safer Roads in Telangana

Senior officials including Vikas Raj, Christina Zongthu, Gaurav Uppal, and R. V. Karnan participated in the review.

Authorities confirmed that road safety improvements over the past three months have shown progress, but more coordinated efforts are needed.

The Telangana Arrive Alive programme aims to reduce accidents through awareness, enforcement, and community participation. With a structured plan and state-wide execution, the initiative seeks to ensure safer roads and save lives across Telangana.
