Hyderabad, Wednesday: In a major action to protect lake land, HYDRAA officials have issued a 10-day deadline to people staying in temporary sheds in the Muskin Cheruvu FTL (Full Tank Level) area, warning against constructions and encroachments.

Acting to safeguard the 52.20-acre FTL area, officials directly spoke to residents and stated that the current status involves ongoing action to clear encroachments and protect the lake from pollution and illegal construction.
HYDRAA Action at Muskin Cheruvu FTL Area
HYDRAA officials visited the Muskin Cheruvu area and informed people living in temporary sheds (residences) and shops:
- “You are all staying within the Muskin Cheruvu FTL (Full Tank Level) limits.”
- “Encroachers are using you as pawns to grab land within the FTL area.”
- “Construction debris and soil are being dumped to change the lake’s structure and carry out large constructions.”
- “Garbage collected from houses is being dumped into the lake area and waste is being segregated here, polluting the lake.”
- “Temporary sheds and shops are being used as a shield to prevent removal of encroachments.”
- “This is obstructing lake development.”
Officials added:
“If you vacate, we will take up lake development. Do not create obstacles for development works.”
They gave 10 days’ time to vacate and advised residents to find alternative arrangements and clear the FTL area.

Officials also warned those exploiting poor and innocent people for encroachments and expressed anger that encroachers ignored warnings issued for the last 6 months.

The Muskin Cheruvu FTL area is 52.20 acres, located in a region surrounded by:
- Thousands of houses
- Lakhs of people moving daily
HYDRAA decided to stop attempts to:
- Encroach the lake using construction debris and soil filling
- Occupy land with temporary sheds
- Convert the lake into a garbage dumping site by leasing nearby areas for waste segregation units
Land Details and Encroachment Claims
As per HMDA records:
- Total FTL area: 52.20 acres
- Pioneers company claim: Up to 18 acres
- Farmers’ land: Up to 12 acres
- Other individual claims: 4.20 acres
Total 34.20 acres falls under FTL area as per HMDA calculations
- Shikam government land: 21 acres
- Total lake area including buffer: Up to 62 acres
Earlier, a compound wall built in the buffer zone was demolished by revenue officials, but despite this:
- Soil is still being dumped
- Constructions are being planned within FTL limits
- Local residents showed that drainage channels were blocked to stop floodwater flow
