Hyderabad Traffic Police Bust Fake Number Plate Case, Banjara Hills Police Book 23-Year-Old Man

Hyderabad Traffic Police booked a 23-year-old man in a fake number plate case after traffic challans were wrongly issued to a Hyderabad woman.

Hyderabad Traffic Police and Banjara Hills Police detected a fake vehicle number plate case and booked a 23-year-old private employee for allegedly using a fake registration number to avoid traffic challans. The accused, identified as Karthika Jaya Kumar from Serilingampally, Ranga Reddy district, was found using a fake number plate on his Yamaha-MT bike, causing traffic challans to be wrongly issued against another vehicle owner in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad Traffic Police Detect Fake Number Plate Usage

According to a press note issued by Hyderabad Traffic Police, officials discovered the misuse of a fake number plate during enforcement work.

Based on the information collected, Banjara Hills Police registered a criminal case and apprehended the accused.

The accused was identified as:

  • Karthika Jaya Kumar
  • Son of Karthika Naga Raju
  • Age: 23 years
  • Occupation: Private Employee
  • Address: Plot No. 6-70, Deeptrisri Nagar, Durga Estates, Madinaguda, Serilingampally, Ranga Reddy District

Fake Number Plate Used on Yamaha-MT Bike

Police stated that the accused used a fake registration number plate bearing:

  • TG07AE0286 (Suzuki Access)

instead of the actual temporary registration number of his vehicle:

  • TG07KT/R0826 (Yamaha-MT)

According to police, the accused intentionally used the fake registration number to mislead government authorities and enforcement agencies in order to avoid traffic violation challans and fines.

Wrong Traffic Challans Issued to Hyderabad Woman

Due to the fake number plate usage, traffic challans were wrongly generated against the genuine registered vehicle owner of Suzuki Access bearing registration number TG07AE0286.

Police identified the legitimate vehicle owner as:

  • Ms. I. Venkata Sravani
  • Resident of Chitrapuni Colony, Manikonda, Hyderabad

Officials stated that the accused’s actions caused inconvenience to the genuine vehicle owner.

FIR Registered Under BNS and Motor Vehicles Act

A criminal case was registered at Banjara Hills Police Station vide:

  • FIR No. 400/2026

The accused was booked under:

  • Section 318(4) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
  • Section 130/177 of Motor Vehicles Act
  • Section 130(a) of M.V. Act

Police also issued notice to the accused under:

  • Section 35(3) of BNSS
  • Corresponding to Section 41 Cr.P.C.

The case was detected through coordinated efforts of Hyderabad Traffic Police and Banjara Hills Police.

Hyderabad Traffic Police Warn Public Against Fake Number Plates

Hyderabad Traffic Police warned citizens that the use of fake, identical, or tampered number plates is a serious and punishable offence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act.

Officials stated that strict legal action would be taken against violators.

Police further said that Hyderabad Traffic Police are equipped with:

  • CCTV surveillance systems
  • ANPR cameras

These systems help detect vehicles using fake or tampered number plates and track vehicle movements effectively.
