ACB Traps Bowenpally SI and Constable While Accepting Rs 30,000 Bribe in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), City Range-2, caught a Sub-Inspector and a Police Constable of Bowenpally Police Station on May 20, 2026, while allegedly demanding and accepting a total bribe of Rs. 30,000 from a complainant for relaxing bail conditions and extending police cooperation in a criminal case. The accused officers were arrested and are being produced before the Principal and Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases, Nampally. Investigation is ongoing.

Bowenpally Police Officials Caught by ACB
According to the ACB, the accused officers are:
- Smt. M. Kiran Nandita (AO-1)
- Sub-Inspector of Police
- Working at Bowenpally Police Station
- B. Vijay Kumar (AO-2)
- Police Constable
- Working at Bowenpally Police Station
The officials were caught by ACB City Range-2 on May 20, 2026, at around 4:00 pm.
Bribe Allegedly Demanded for Relaxing Bail Conditions
ACB officials stated that the accused demanded a total bribe amount of Rs. 30,000 from the complainant.
According to the complaint, the bribe was allegedly sought to perform an official favour, including:
- Relaxing bail conditions imposed on the complainant in Cr. No. 247/2026 under Section 109 BNS
- Extending police cooperation during the complainant’s house shifting process
- Providing cooperation till finalisation of the case
Bribe Money Kept in Activa Dicky
According to ACB officials, AO-1 allegedly instructed the complainant to place the bribe amount in the dicky of her Activa scooter parked in the Bowenpally Police Station parking area.
The tainted bribe amount of Rs. 30,000 was later recovered from the Activa dicky.
Officials stated that AO-1 handed over the Activa keys to the complainant and instructed him to place the money inside the vehicle storage compartment.
Constable Earlier Accepted Rs 10,000
The ACB further stated that AO-2, Police Constable B. Vijay Kumar, had earlier accepted Rs. 10,000 from the complainant.
Police said AO-2 later demanded an additional Rs. 15,000 from the complainant to convince AO-1.
ACB Says Officials Misused Official Position
According to the Anti-Corruption Bureau, the accused officers improperly and dishonestly performed their duties to obtain undue advantage.
The ACB stated that the officers allegedly misused their official position while dealing with the complainant’s case.
Accused Being Produced Before Special Court
The ACB said both accused officials are being arrested and produced before the Principal and Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
