Sultan Bazar Police in Hyderabad solved a Rs.9.63 lakh cash-in-transit ATM theft case within 48 hours and arrested accused driver Shaik Rahman in Gulbarga, Karnataka.

Hyderabad: Sultan Bazar Police solved a cash-in-transit ATM theft case within 48 hours and arrested the accused driver Shaik Rahman from Gulbarga, Karnataka.

The accused allegedly fled with cash bags containing Rs.9,63,465 from a Toyota Innova Crysta vehicle after leaving SBI Main Branch at Bank Street, Koti on May 19, 2026.

Police recovered net cash of Rs.9,53,760 along with other seized items from the accused.

Details of the Accused

The arrested accused has been identified as:

  • Shaik Rahman
  • Son of Shaik Kareem
  • Age: 46 years
  • Occupation: Car driver
  • Resident of H.No. 9-2/5/93/A, Hasmathpet, beside Star Hotel, Bowenpally, Hyderabad

Seized Items Recovered by Police

Police seized the following items from the accused:

  • Net cash of Rs.9,53,760
  • One Samsung Galaxy M31 mobile phone
  • One Tommy Hilfiger blue coloured bag
  • One key of Innova Crysta vehicle

How the Cash-In-Transit Theft Took Place

According to police, on May 19, 2026, at around 09:00 AM, complainant Gaddam Mallesh, who works as Cash Custodian at Cleared Security Services Private Ltd (CSS), along with another custodian, a gunman, and driver Shaik Rahman, started cash collection duties in a white Toyota Innova Crysta bearing registration number TG 11 UC 0180.

After collecting cash from various business outlets, including D-Mart and Mangalya Shopping Mall, the team reached SBI Main Branch at around 02:20 PM to deposit the collections.

While the two custodians went inside the bank carrying part of the collected cash, Rs.19,00,000 kept in five bags remained inside the vehicle.

Police said the gunman temporarily left the vehicle to use the washroom. Taking advantage of the vehicle being completely unguarded, the accused driver immediately fled with the transit vehicle.

Vehicle Found Near District Hospital, King Koti

The vehicle was later found abandoned near District Hospital.

After opening the vehicle using a duplicate key, officials discovered that the accused had escaped with two cash bags:

  • D-Mart cash bag containing Rs.5,88,932
  • Mangalya cash bag containing Rs.3,74,533

The total stolen amount was Rs.9,63,465.

Accused Tracked and Arrested in Gulbarga

Police said the accused was tracked using investigation methods and technical tracking.

A special police team was immediately sent to Gulbarga in Karnataka.

Acting on precise technical intelligence, the team conducted a raid at Sabera Guest House on May 21, 2026, at 06:00 PM.

During the raid, police successfully apprehended Shaik Rahman and recovered the stolen net cash.
