Haj 2027: Haj Committee of India Issues Passport Advisory for Pilgrims Ahead of Announcement

Haj Committee of India has issued a passport readiness advisory for Haj 2027 pilgrims. Passports must be machine-readable, valid until December 31, 2027, and contain surname details in fresh applications.

The Haj Committee of India has issued an important advisory for pilgrims planning to perform Haj 2027 (1448 H), directing them to keep their passports ready and ensure compliance with specified passport requirements. The advisory was issued through Circular Haj–2027/01 dated June 2, 2026, following the release of a Haj preparation document by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The official Haj announcement for Haj 2027 is expected shortly.

Haj Committee of India Issues Circular for Haj 2027

According to Circular No. F. No: HCI-0011-007700164/1/2025HCOI, issued by the Haj Committee of India, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, pilgrims intending to perform Haj 2027 (1448 H) have been advised to prepare their passports in advance.

The circular was issued by the Zonal Section of the Haj Committee of India from Bait-ul-Hujjaj (Haj House), 7-A, M.R.A. Marg (Palton Road), Mumbai – 400001.

The circular is dated 02-06-2026 and is numbered Haj–2027/01.

Saudi Arabia Begins Preparatory Process for Haj 1448 H

The circular states that the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, issued the Preparation Document for Haj 1448 H (Haj 2027) on 29 May 2026, initiating the preparatory process for Haj arrangements in accordance with prescribed timelines.

In view of this development, the Haj Committee of India stated that the official Haj announcement for Haj 2027 (1448 H) is expected to be issued shortly.

Passport Requirements for Haj 2027 Pilgrims

The Haj Committee of India has advised all intending pilgrims to keep their passports ready and ensure compliance with the following requirements:

  • The passport must be machine-readable.
  • The passport must remain valid at least up to 31 December 2027.
  • In the case of fresh passport applications, the Surname/Last Name field must not be left blank.

The committee said these requirements should be fulfilled before the commencement of the Haj application process.

State and Union Territory Haj Committees Asked to Spread Awareness

The circular requested all State and Union Territory Haj Committees to give wide publicity to its contents through appropriate channels.

The objective is to ensure that prospective pilgrims are adequately informed and prepared well in advance for Haj 2027.
