Special Drive Conducted Across Malkajgiri Commissionerate
The special enforcement drive was carried out to check:
- Illegal activities
- Unauthorised cross-massage services
- Violations of prescribed safety norms
The details were disclosed to media persons at the LB Nagar Camp Office on Friday by B. Sumathi, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Malkajgiri.
According to the Commissioner, the inspections were aimed at ensuring spa centres operate within legal guidelines and do not become hubs for unlawful activities.
Hidden Rooms and Lack of Transparency Detected
One of the major violations identified during the inspections was the presence of concealed partition rooms without transparent glass doors.
Commissioner B. Sumathi said such enclosed spaces violated prescribed safety norms and raised concerns regarding activities taking place beyond public view.
Police also found that several spa centres were operating without the required permissions and approvals under existing regulations.
In addition, many establishments did not display basic signboards, making it difficult for authorities and the public to identify the businesses.
Customer Identity Records Missing at Several Spa Centres
Police found that many spa centres failed to collect and maintain customer identity documents, including:
- Aadhaar Cards
- Driving Licences
- Other government-issued identity documents
Investigators said the absence of customer verification records creates serious security concerns and makes it difficult to trace individuals when required during investigations.
Mandatory Records and Employee Details Not Maintained
The inspections also revealed widespread non-compliance in maintaining mandatory records.
Several establishments failed to maintain:
- Customer registers
- Therapist details
- Employee records
- Attendance logs
- Other statutory documents required under regulations
Police officials stated that such lapses indicate poor oversight and can facilitate illegal activities.
