Hyderabad: With the objective of maintaining law and order in the city, the Hyderabad City Police conducted intensive vehicle checking drives under ‘Operation Kavach’ on Thursday night. Hyderabad Commissioner of Police personally inspected the special enforcement operation at multiple locations across the city. During the drive, police checked 12,098 vehicles and seized 2,149 vehicles for various violations, including fake, missing, and tampered number plates.

Commissioner of Police Inspects Operation Kavach at Key Locations
The Hyderabad Commissioner of Police personally visited and reviewed vehicle checking operations at the following locations:
- Jubilee Hills – Venkatagiri
- Madhura Nagar – Krishna Kanth Park
- Borabanda – Pili Dargah
- Sanath Nagar
- Ameerpet – Satyam Theatre
The inspections were conducted as part of the city-wide Operation Kavach initiative aimed at strengthening public safety and security.
12,098 Vehicles Checked Across Hyderabad
As part of the special drive, Hyderabad City Police inspected a total of 12,098 vehicles across the commissionerate limits, including:
- 8,802 two-wheelers
- 1,693 four-wheelers
- 1,623 autos
The large-scale operation focused on identifying vehicles violating registration and number plate regulations.
Fake, Missing and Improper Number Plates Detected
During the inspections, police detected:
- 1,406 vehicles with improper number plates
- 1,132 vehicles without original number plates
- 69 vehicles using fake number plates
Officials said such violations pose a serious threat to public safety and can create difficulties for innocent citizens.
2,149 Vehicles Seized During Special Drive
Police seized a total of 2,149 vehicles for violating regulations, including:
- 2,046 two-wheelers
- 52 four-wheelers
- 51 autos
The seized vehicles were found violating various provisions relating to vehicle identification and documentation.
Hyderabad Police Warn of Cheating and Forgery Cases
The Hyderabad Commissioner of Police stated that tampering with number plates, using fake number plates, or operating vehicles without original number plates will not be treated merely as ordinary traffic violations.
According to the Commissioner, such offences have become a major threat to public safety and often result in innocent people facing unnecessary trouble.
The Commissioner warned that police will register cheating and forgery cases against those found violating these regulations.
More Inspections Planned Across Hyderabad
Hyderabad City Police announced that vehicle inspections will continue in the coming days and will cover all categories of vehicles.
Vehicle owners have been advised to:
- Carry valid vehicle documents at all times
- Ensure proper and legal number plates are displayed
- Follow all vehicle-related regulations
Police also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and security in Hyderabad.
