Santoshnagar Traffic Police Launch High-Priority Desilting Drive to Prevent Waterlogging During Monsoon
Santoshnagar Traffic Police, GHMC, HYDRAA and the Monsoon Emergency Team have launched a high-priority catch pit desilting drive opposite IS Sadan to prevent waterlogging and ensure smooth traffic flow during the monsoon season.

In pursuance of the directives issued by senior officials and Traffic-III, Charminar Zone, proactive measures have been initiated under the jurisdiction of Santoshnagar Traffic Police Station to prevent waterlogging and ensure smooth traffic flow during the monsoon season.

Accordingly, the desilting (removal of silt and sludge) of catch pits on Santoshnagar Main Road opposite IS Sadan is being carried out in active coordination with the GHMC and the Monsoon Emergency Team. The initiative has been taken on high priority to address monsoon-related traffic issues and facilitate uninterrupted commuter movement.
Why the Santoshnagar Desilting Drive Was Initiated
Officials stated that the accumulation of soil, silt and debris in the catch pits had been obstructing the free flow of rainwater into drains.
As a result:
- Even minor spells of rain were leading to waterlogging on roads.
- Water stagnation was causing severe traffic disruptions.
- Heavy vehicular congestion was occurring in the area.
To eliminate these issues during the monsoon season and ensure smooth movement of traffic, desilting works have been taken up on a priority basis.
Catch Pit Cleaning Under Direct Supervision of Traffic Inspector Mohammad Asif
The intensive cleaning and desilting programme is being executed under the direct supervision of Mohammad Asif, Inspector of Police, Traffic PS, Santoshnagar.
The operation is being carried out in close coordination with:
- GHMC teams
- HYDRAA teams
- Monsoon Emergency Team
Officials stated that coordinated efforts are being made to reduce waterlogging and improve traffic conditions during the rainy season.
Appeal to Citizens During Monsoon Season
Santoshnagar Traffic Police appealed to citizens to cooperate in preventing waterlogging on roads and avoiding traffic inconveniences during the rainy season.
Citizens have been requested:
- Not to dump waste into drains.
- Not to dump waste into catch pits.
- To extend cooperation to traffic police personnel.
- To support municipal staff in maintaining drainage systems.
Officials emphasized that public cooperation is essential for effective monsoon management and smooth traffic movement.
