Adilabad Airport Development: CM Revanth Reddy Seeks Centre’s Support for World-Class IAF-Led Airport, Cargo, MRO and Hangar Facilities

New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at Kartavya Bhavan in New Delhi and requested that the proposed Adilabad Airport, which is to be developed under the leadership of the Indian Air Force, be developed with all modern facilities. The Chief Minister also assured full cooperation from the Telangana government in land acquisition and utility shifting works related to the airport project. The airport is being planned as a major infrastructure project linked to national security, defence requirements and civilian aviation facilities.

Revanth Reddy Thanks Rajnath Singh for Gandhi Sarovar Project Land Transfer
During the meeting held at the Defence Ministry office in Kartavya Bhavan, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed gratitude to Rajnath Singh for the transfer of Defence Ministry land for the Gandhi Sarovar Project, which is part of the Musi Riverfront Development Project.
The Chief Minister thanked the Defence Minister for supporting the project by facilitating the transfer of defence land required for the development of Gandhi Sarovar.
Telangana Assures Full Support for Adilabad Airport Development
Revanth Reddy informed the Defence Minister that the Telangana government would extend complete support for land acquisition and utility relocation related to the development of Adilabad Airport, which is one of the state government’s priority projects.
He stated that since the airport being developed under the Indian Air Force is connected to national integration and defence interests, the state government would provide all possible assistance for its large-scale expansion.
Request for Passenger Terminal, Cargo, MRO and Hangar Facilities
The Chief Minister requested Rajnath Singh to support the establishment of large-scale infrastructure facilities at Adilabad Airport.
These facilities include:
- Indian Air Force terminal facilities
- Civil Aviation Department passenger terminal building
- Cargo facilities
- MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) facilities
- Hangar infrastructure
According to the Chief Minister, the airport should be developed in a way that can support both defence and civilian aviation requirements.
Adilabad Airport Suitable for Global Airline Hangars
Revanth Reddy said that recent developments in Central Asia have prompted several globally renowned airlines to look for suitable locations to establish their hangars.
He stated that Adilabad Airport is highly suitable for hangar development and requested that the airport be developed accordingly to attract such opportunities.
CM Seeks Early Approval for DRDO/DRDL Project Near Devarakadra
The Chief Minister also requested the Defence Minister to grant early approval for an important project proposed by DRDO/DRDL.
He informed Rajnath Singh that DRDL has selected a location near Devarakadra in Mahabubnagar district for the project and urged the Central Government to approve it at the earliest.
Senior Officials Attend Meeting
Senior officials of the Telangana State Government were also present during the meeting between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.
The meeting focused on the development of the proposed Adilabad Airport under the Indian Air Force, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy seeking Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s support for expanding the airport with passenger terminals, cargo facilities, MRO centres and hangars.
