Hyderabad Extortion Case: Dabeerpura Police Arrest Rowdy Sheeter in Rs 50 Lakh Ransom Threat Case

Dabeerpura Police, Hyderabad arrested Habeeb Ali Baghdadi (57), a rowdy sheeter of Abids Road Police Station, in connection with Cr. No. 103/2026 registered under Sections 329(4), 308(6), 351(2), 352 BNS. Police alleged that the accused threatened a builder in Malakpet, demanded Rs. 50,00,000 ransoms entered a construction site unlawfully and intimidated workers. The accused was apprehended on 22.06.2026 at 1400 hours, and further investigation is in progress.

Police stated that the accused is a Rowdy Sheeter of Abids Road Police Station, Hyderabad.
Complaint Filed by Builder from Azampura
According to police, the case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Syed Yousuf Shareef, resident of Azampura, Hyderabad.
The complainant stated that he is a builder and is presently constructing a new building at:
H.No. 16-8-238, Kaladera, Malakpet, Hyderabad
According to the complaint, for the past several months, the accused had allegedly been continuously harassing and pressuring him to pay Rs. 50,00,000 as ransom.
The complaint alleged that the accused threatened that if the amount was not paid, he would ensure that a serious criminal case would be registered against the complainant.
Alleged Trespass, Knife Threat and Intimidation at Construction Site
According to the complaint, around two months ago at approximately 12:30 PM, the accused allegedly unlawfully entered the construction site and questioned the plumber regarding the whereabouts of the builder.
Police stated that the complainant alleged that:
- The accused abused the complainant using filthy language.
- When questioned by the plumber, the accused allegedly lifted his shirt and showed a knife concealed in his waistband.
- He allegedly threatened that if the builder failed to meet his demands, he would ensure that a serious criminal case was registered and that the complainant would be sent to jail.
- He allegedly threatened to falsely implicate the complainant in a grave offence and ruin his life.
According to the complaint, after seeing the knife and hearing the threats, the plumber became frightened and remained silent.
Police stated that the accused later left the premises.
Fresh Allegation on June 9, 2026
Police stated that on 09.06.2026, the accused again allegedly entered the construction site and threatened both the watchman and the complainant with the intention of obtaining ransom and extorting money.
Police Allege Modus Operandi After Return from Saudi Arabia
According to police, the accused was previously residing in Saudi Arabia.
After returning to India, police alleged that he started threatening and extorting owners of newly constructed buildings and builders.
Police stated that his alleged modus operandi included:
- Visiting newly constructed buildings
- Identifying loopholes or alleged violations
- Taking photographs of properties
- Posting images on Facebook
- Tagging GHMC, Income Tax Department, and the offices of the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Director General of Police
- Allegedly blackmailing builders and property owners
- Demanding ransom money
- Filing complaints before concerned departments seeking demolition if demands were not fulfilled
Case Registration and Investigation Status
Based on the complaint, police registered the case and began investigation.
During investigation, the accused was apprehended by Dabeerpura Police on 22.06.2026 at 1400 hours.
Police stated that further investigation is in progress to ascertain all facts and circumstances of the case.
