Jupally Alleges BRS Left Telangana with ₹8 Lakh Crore Debt

Jupally Krishna Rao alleged that during its 10-year tenure, the BRS government neglected farmer welfare and pushed Telangana, which he described as a surplus state, into debt of ₹8 lakh crore.

He further alleged that the previous BRS government burdened the state’s electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) with debt and held former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) responsible for the state’s financial condition.

Minister Recalls KCR’s Loan Waiver Remarks

The Minister recalled that KCR had stated in the Assembly that a one-time farm loan waiver was not feasible.

Jupally Krishna Rao also pointed out that the BRS government took four years to implement a ₹1 lakh farm loan waiver.

Congress Government Implementing Six Guarantees

Jupally Krishna Rao said that despite facing significant financial challenges, the Congress government is fulfilling its Six Guarantees and implementing additional welfare measures.

According to the Minister, the government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy waived farmer loans up to ₹2 lakh, involving a total disbursement of ₹20,616.18 crore in a single installment.

Congress Government Providing Higher Support to Farmers

The Minister compared the Congress government’s initiatives with the previous BRS government’s Rythu Bandhu scheme.

He stated that:

  • The BRS government’s Rythu Bandhu scheme provided ₹5,000 per acre
  • The Congress government is now depositing ₹6,000 per acre
  • The Congress government is also providing a ₹500 bonus for fine-variety paddy

According to Jupally Krishna Rao, these measures demonstrate the Congress government’s commitment to supporting farmers.

Congress Confident of Victory in Future Elections

Jupally Krishna Rao asserted that the Congress party is confident of securing victory in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections.

He said the government’s welfare initiatives and farmer-centric policies would strengthen public support for the Congress party.
