Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, along with Abids Police Station, busted an interstate ganja trafficking racket by apprehending four interstate ganja transporters, including one GJCL, near Haj House on July 2, 2026. Police seized 23 kg of dry ganja, 2 mobile phones, and ₹7,000 in cash, with the contraband valued at approximately ₹12,00,000. Further investigation is underway, while four alleged suppliers and receivers remain absconding.

Four Interstate Ganja Transporters Apprehended
Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths of the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Charminar Zone Team, along with the staff of Abids Police Station, apprehended the accused near Haj House, Nampally, under the limits of Abids Police Station.
The accused have been identified as:
- Amit Achutrao Kale, son of Achutrao Kale, 33 years, private employee, resident of Bhim Nagar, Parbhani Town, Maharashtra.
- Seema Nitin Potbhare, wife of Amit Potbhare, 33 years, homemaker, resident of Bhim Nagar, Parbhani Town, Maharashtra.
- Arthi Maruthi Khandare, daughter of Late Maruthi, 27 years, daily wage labourer, resident of Siddarth Nagar, Parbhani Town, Maharashtra.
- One GJCL (name withheld).
Property Seized
Police seized the following property from the accused:
- 23 kg of dry ganja
- 2 mobile phones
- ₹7,000 in cash
The estimated value of the seized ganja is ₹12,00,000.
Investigation Reveals Interstate Smuggling Network
During interrogation, police found that the three adult accused and the GJCL are natives of Parbhani, Maharashtra.
According to the police:
- Amit Achutrao Kale and Seema Nitin Potbhare are husband and wife.
- They allegedly transported ganja from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra with the assistance of Arthi Maruthi Khandare and the GJCL on a commission basis.
- For the past six months, they had allegedly been procuring and transporting ganja from the agency areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra via Hyderabad and supplying it to customers for illegal profits.
Ganja Allegedly Purchased from Araku
Police said that about four days before their arrest, the accused visited the Araku Agency area in Visakhapatnam and allegedly purchased 23 kg of dry ganja at the rate of ₹6,000 per kg from:
- Govind, resident of Araku, Alluri Sitarama Raju district, who has been identified by police as the alleged main supplier.
The contraband was allegedly meant to be supplied to:
- Aftab Afzal Khan
- Meera Bhai
- Amrapali
Arrest Near Haj House
Police said the accused boarded a train at Visakhapatnam Railway Station on July 1, 2026 after procuring the contraband.
They reached Secunderabad Railway Station on the morning of July 2, 2026, hired an auto-rickshaw, and came to Haj House in Nampally, where they were waiting for a private bus.
Acting on specific information, the Task Force and Abids Police apprehended them and seized the contraband.
Four Suspects Absconding
Police stated that the following persons are absconding:
- Govind of Araku, Alluri Sitarama Raju district, Andhra Pradesh (alleged main supplier)
- Aftab Afzal Khan of Parli, Maharashtra (alleged receiver)
- Meera Bhai of Parbhani, Maharashtra (alleged receiver)
- Amrapali of Parbhani, Maharashtra (alleged receiver)
The investigation is continuing to trace the absconding accused.
