Telangana DGP CV Anand has directed police officers to improve the state's cyber security rankings, strengthen e-Zero FIR implementation, and enhance cyber crime investigations using CCTNS.
Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand has directed all police unit officers to improve the state’s performance across national cyber security benchmarks, saying technology-driven policing is the strongest weapon against the rising menace of cybercrime. In a post shared on his official X handle, the DGP reviewed Cyber Security, e-Zero FIR, and Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) implementation through a video conference and instructed officers to target a top position in the national rankings.

DGP CV Anand Reviews Cyber Security Performance
Sharing details of the review meeting on July 24, DGP CV Anand said:
“Technology driven policing is our strongest weapon against the rising menace of cyber crime. Today I directed all Unit Officers to sharpen our performance across every national cyber security benchmark, our target is a top position in the national rankings.”
He said he reviewed Cyber Security, e-Zero FIR, and CCTNS implementation with officers from all police units through a video conference (VC).
Centre Flags Rise in Cyber Frauds
According to the DGP, the Government of India has expressed serious concern over the increase in cyber frauds, particularly “Digital Arrest” scams.
He noted that the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) periodically evaluates the cyber security preparedness of states based on nine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

e-Zero FIR Yet to Reach Full Potential
CV Anand observed that the implementation of e-Zero FIR in Telangana has not yet reached its full potential.
He directed officers to ensure the effective rollout of the system across the state.
The DGP also appreciated the work of:
- T-SPARK
- Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TCSB)
for registering nearly 20 e-Zero FIRs in just two days.
Telangana’s National Cyber Security Rankings
The DGP shared Telangana’s current national performance across different cyber security parameters:
- 13th in e-Zero FIR
- 18th in Money Restoration with 46.6% recovery
- 4th in GRM
- 16th in Sahayog Portal
- 6th in Samanvaya Portal
- 16th in Social Media performance
- 15th in Cyber Security
- 8th in Capacity Building
He stated that the state’s current national standing leaves “no room for complacency.”
Officers Directed to Strengthen Cyber Crime Response
The DGP instructed all unit officers to:
- Strengthen Capacity Building
- Intensify Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities
- Make full use of CCTNS in every cyber crime investigation
- Improve Telangana’s performance across all national cyber security benchmarks
He reiterated that technology-driven policing would play a key role in tackling cyber crime effectively.
Telangana DGP CV Anand has directed police officers across the state to strengthen cyber security measures, improve e-Zero FIR implementation, and enhance Telangana’s national rankings in cyber crime preparedness. Highlighting concerns raised by the Government of India over increasing cyber frauds, especially Digital Arrest scams, the DGP called for better capacity building, wider use of CCTNS, and more effective cyber crime investigations to achieve a top national ranking.
