Concerns Grow Over Old Properties Being Added to Prohibited List in Hyderabad
According to the affected property owners, several residential buildings constructed within Hyderabad city limits with all required legal permissions are now facing difficulties during the registration process.
Hyderabad: Concerns are growing among property owners in Telangana over the alleged addition of properties to the prohibited list. Several affected residents claim that apartments and registered plots constructed and developed years ago after obtaining all necessary government approvals are now being classified as government land, resulting in registration being blocked.
According to the affected property owners, several residential buildings constructed within Hyderabad city limits with all required legal permissions are now facing difficulties during the registration process.
One such case involves Sitaramayya, who said he purchased a 327-square-yard plot in 2004 in the Dilsukhnagar area. The plot had reportedly been allotted to employees through the SBH Society. After obtaining the necessary government approvals, an apartment was constructed on the plot in 2008.
Sitaramayya said that when he recently approached the Sub-Registrar’s office to sell one of the flats in the apartment, he was informed that the plot had been added to the prohibited list and that the registration could not be processed.
Affected property owners claim that this is not an isolated case and that similar complaints are emerging from several parts of Hyderabad, where old apartments and plots are allegedly being added to the prohibited list.

It is also being alleged that some plots approved under HMDA and the erstwhile HUDA system, which were legally registered around 15 years ago, are now being included in the prohibited list.
The affected residents have questioned why properties that had previously received all necessary approvals from various government departments are now being classified as government land and blocked from registration.
They have urged the government to conduct a transparent investigation into the matter, protect the rights of genuine property owners and immediately remove hurdles preventing the registration of properties that had received all required legal approvals.
