Drug Supplier Allegedly Runs Car Over Police in Abids, Constable Suffers Leg Fracture

Hyderabad: A police constable suffered a fractured leg after a suspected drug supplier allegedly drove a car into police personnel during a crackdown on suspected drug dealing in the Abids area of Hyderabad. An inspector and another constable also sustained minor injuries in the incident.

According to police, they received information on Sunday afternoon about a suspected drug deal taking place in Abids. Acting on the tip-off, a team from the Narcotics Enforcement Wing began monitoring the area.

During the operation, a car stopped near Pyle Footwear in Abids, where a person allegedly handed over a suspicious packet to an individual inside the vehicle. Police immediately detained the person who had handed over the packet and asked the occupant of the car, identified as Saif, a resident of Hussaini Alam, to step out.

Police said Saif initially appeared to be moving the vehicle to the side, but suddenly reversed the car. As a result, constable Mahender Yadav’s leg reportedly came under the vehicle, causing serious injuries.

The suspect then allegedly attempted to flee from the spot. Inspector Srikanth, along with other police personnel, chased the vehicle and eventually apprehended Saif near Afzal Gunj.

Constable Mahender Yadav suffered a fracture to his leg and was rushed to Yashoda Hospital in Somajiguda, where he is undergoing treatment. Inspector Srikanth and constable Vanshidhar also sustained minor injuries during the chase.

Based on a complaint filed by constable Mahender Yadav, police registered cases against the accused at the Abids and Afzal Gunj police stations under charges including attempt to murder and other relevant sections.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
