According to allegations, a prominent construction company is developing around 150 villas on a site that falls within the buffer zone of the large Dundigal Cheruvu lake. The project is reportedly being promoted as a villa community spread across 8.25 acres, located around two kilometres from the Outer Ring Road.
The controversy has intensified over claims that irrigation officials had written to the concerned authorities around 18 months ago, stating that the proposed construction site was located within the lake’s buffer zone.
Despite the reported communication, allegations have surfaced that the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) subsequently granted permissions for the project.
The issue has also raised questions over the alleged silence of HYDRAA, municipal authorities and HMDA officials. Critics are questioning why action has allegedly not been taken against the project despite the earlier identification of the site as falling within the buffer zone.
