Telangana High Court Issues Contempt Notice to Education Secretary Yogita Rana Over Non-Compliance With Court Order

The Telangana High Court has issued a contempt notice to Education Secretary Yogita Rana, questioning the alleged failure to comply with an earlier court order concerning the affairs of the Hyderabad Public School Society.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has issued a contempt notice to Education Secretary Yogita Rana, questioning the alleged failure to comply with an earlier court order concerning the affairs of the Hyderabad Public School Society.

The matter relates to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Durgam Ravinder, who had alleged irregularities in the utilisation of funds belonging to the Hyderabad Public School Society and claimed that unauthorised constructions had been carried out without the required government permissions.

The Telangana High Court had taken up the PIL and, in October last year, directed the Education Secretary to take appropriate action on the issues raised in the petition within three months.

However, Ravinder subsequently approached the High Court again, alleging that no action had been taken despite the passage of nearly a year. He filed a contempt petition, seeking action against the officials for allegedly failing to comply with the court’s directions.

Hearing the contempt petition, a bench headed by Chief Justice A. P. Singh issued a contempt notice to Yogita Rana and directed her to provide an immediate explanation regarding the alleged non-compliance with the earlier order.

The court’s action has brought renewed attention to allegations concerning the Hyderabad Public School Society and the implementation of judicial directions by senior government officials. Further proceedings will depend on the explanation submitted by the Education Secretary.
