Hyderabad police have busted an alleged counterfeit currency racket in Balapur and arrested three people accused of printing and circulating fake currency notes. Police reportedly seized counterfeit notes with a face value of approximately ₹2.91 lakh from the suspects.

According to police, the accused allegedly circulated the fake notes at wine shops and vegetable markets, particularly during nighttime, targeting places where transactions are frequent and cash-based.

The three arrested suspects reportedly work as a food delivery worker, a bike taxi rider and an auto-rickshaw driver. Investigators said the accused allegedly learned methods of preparing counterfeit currency by watching videos on YouTube and Instagram.

Police suspect that the accused had been involved in printing and circulating fake notes for some time. The seized counterfeit currency and other material allegedly used in the operation have been taken into custody for further investigation.

Authorities are now investigating whether the arrested individuals were operating independently or were connected to a larger counterfeit currency network. Police are also examining the circulation of the fake notes in Balapur and surrounding areas.

Further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the racket and identify any other people who may be involved.
