AAP claims centre wants to demolish 53 temples in Delhi

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday alleged that the Centre wants to demolish 53 temples in the city. The allegation came a day before the Rajinder Nagar bypoll.

Addressing a press conference, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh claimed that BJP has sent a letter to the Delhi government seeking permission from a religious committee to demolish 53 temples. He accused BJP of staging a “drama” in the name of religion and temples, while the party is actually “anti-Hindu”. The Hindu reported.

Saying that he was there to expose the Prime Minister [Narendra Modi], BJP Delhi State President Adesh Gupta and the entire party, Mr Singh said “No God or Goddess has been spared.” He asked Mr. Modi and Mr. Gupta to come forward and apologise to the people of Delhi for this “gross crime”.

Sharing list of 53 “unauthorised” religious structures in seven areas, AAP said the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has requested permission from the religious committee for their removal.
