All India Muslim Personal Law Board Conducts Shariah Awareness Workshop For Women

The Women’s Wing of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board conducted a Shariah awareness campaign across India in the years 2022-2023.

As part of this initiative, a one-day workshop on Understanding Shariah took place on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 9 am to 3 pm, at Madrasah Mahad-ul-Salihat in Bazar Guard, Hyderabad.

The event was held under the patronage of Hazrat Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani Sahib, President of the Personal Law Board, and began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Dr. Qudsia Sultana Sahiba addressed the women and students, emphasizing the significance of the Qur’an and Hadith as guiding principles for life. Dr. Sultana also pointed out that the government’s involvement in various branches of Shariah could lead to confusion and anxiety in society due to misconceptions.

Dr. Johar Jahan Sahiba, Secretary of the Women’s Organization at All India Majlis Tameer-e-Millat, discussed the potential consequences of government attempts to prohibit polygamy. She noted that this could lead to illegitimate children in both Indian and Western societies, resulting in many single mothers.

Maulana Muhammad Asad Nadvi Sahib spoke about Islamic teachings regarding marriage, emphasizing that Islam has simplified the process. However, he expressed concern that recent laws are making marriage more challenging and adultery easier in society.

Hafsa Abideen Sahiba, Director of Abideen Trust, addressed the right of women to inherit. She highlighted that Islam is the only religion that grants women this right.

Ms. Jaleesa Sultana Advocate, Convener of the Women’s Section at All India Muslim Personal Law Board, stated that religions worldwide have strayed from their teachings, and she emphasized the importance of adhering to Islamic Shariat, which she believes will be followed until the Day of Judgment.

The program was overseen by Hazrat Maulana Ahmed Ubaidur Rehman Athar Sahib, Nazeem Madrasa Mahad us-Salihat, and saw a significant turnout of women and students.
