Anti-Muslim drive leaves many poor Muslims homeless in Khargone

Khargone: The local administration on Monday, 11 April, undertook a demolition drive against Muslims, in areas where the violence had erupted yesterday during a Ram Navami procession in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone.

State home minister had said that “the houses of those who are pelting stones, will be turned into a pile of stones”.

Citing their policy of zero tolerance of violence the police revealed that they have started from the area near Mohan Talkies, Khargone and are moving forward to other areas to carry out similar drives as per our.”

People allegedly belonging to the Muslim community is said to have taken objection to the music being played during Ram Navami procession taken out on Sunday following which the matter escalated and stone pelting began.

Over 80 people have been arrested in this connection so far. Many Muslim youth were picked up near the mosque.

However, according to Maktoob Media it was the Muslims who were the victims during the violence in Madhya Pradesh’s Khargone. Authorities have begun demolishing houses and shops belonging to Muslims on Monday in Chandini Chowk and Khaskhaswadi Mohalla area.

Social media is flooded with the visuals of bulldozers razing down houses with police escorts. Community leaders who demanded official orders that authorise the demolition drive, even before any investigation into the violence began have been assaulted by the police.

Anti-Muslim drive is state-sponsored as following the violence, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has given instructions for strict action against the ‘perpetrators’.

A slip with 20 Muslim names is reportedly circulating in local Muslim Whatsapp groups saying their houses will be demolished by the authorities. Bulldozers have already demolished at least a dozen buildings belonging to Muslims.

Police broke down the shutters of the shop then later demolish the complex.

The Ram Navami procession was led by infamous BJP leader Kapil Mishra following which dozens of people were injured in violence, some having bullet injuries.

Policemen who tried to break into a mosque in Sanjay Nagar allegedly attacked women.

Senior journalist Aditya Menon wrote on Twitter, “If one combines the violence and hate speeches that happened on Sunday, it spans multiple states. A truly national level communal mobilization.”

Journalist Arfa Khanum Sherwani tweets: Under which law the houses of Muslims are being demolished in Khargone of Madhya Pradesh ? Which court of law has authorized this ? Are courts still functioning in India ?”

Twitter user Mohd Abdul Sattar urged Hindu brothers and sisters to speak out to stop this hate-factory, before it’s late.
