India will commemorate the triumph of Chandrayaan-3 on August 23 by designating it as ‘National Space Day’, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During an address to ISRO scientists in Bengaluru, he lauded them for inspiring a whole generation and leaving a lasting impact on young minds.
Praising the minds behind India’s lunar success, PM Modi remarked, “You carried ‘Make in India’ all the way to the moon,” during his address to the ISRO scientists in Bengaluru.
In honor of the achievement of the Chandrayaan-3 lander, PM Modi declared that the location of Vikram lander’s touchdown will be named ‘Shivshakti’. This announcement was made while he was addressing scientists at the ISRO Telemetry Tracking & Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru.
Furthermore, he christened the crash landing site of Chandrayaan-2 as the ‘Tiranga point’, acknowledging the mission’s mark on the lunar surface in 2019. He also acknowledged the crucial contribution of ISRO’s women scientists in India’s lunar mission success.
In recognition of the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 lander on August 23, PM Modi made a visit to Bengaluru. His visit followed his return from visits to Greece and South Africa. Upon arriving at the ISRO headquarters, he was warmly welcomed.
PM Modi engaged with the team of scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation who were integral to the mission’s success. He virtually joined the ISRO team in witnessing the historical landing of the Vikram lander on the Moon from South Africa, where he was attending the 15th BRICS Summit.
ISRO Chairman S Somanath personally received the Prime Minister, and their warm embrace symbolized the accomplishment of the challenging lunar landing mission. PM Modi also posed for a group photo with the team of scientists responsible for the project. Subsequently, he received a briefing from S Somanath about ISRO’s 40-day journey to the lunar South Pole.
