Slamming the makers of ‘The Kerala Story’, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday said that at first glance, the film appears to peddle lies aimed at creating communal polarisation and spreading hate propaganda against the state.
Claiming that the issue of ‘love jihad’ has been rejected by probe agencies, courts and the Home Ministry, Vijayan deplored that the issue was being raised in connection with Kerala only to “humiliate the state in front of the world”.
While the trailer of the film was released last week, the
film is scheduled to open in theatres on May 5. The film is directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutul Shah. Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani have starred inthe film.
Since the release of its trailer, the film has been the subject of fierce online debate and criticism. Many claim that its story is completely fabricated. Where as some claim that it sheds light on the much-ignored story of forced conversions in Kerala.
The film is based on the story of a group of women from Kerala who are converted to Islam (through force or deceit) and go on to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
