Telangana DGP CV Anand launched the EAGLE Telangana anti-drug awareness campaign at TGICCC ahead of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 and called for a united fight against drugs.

Hyderabad: Ahead of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand inaugurated the EAGLE Telangana statewide awareness campaign at TGICCC and reiterated the Telangana Government’s firm resolve to make the State free from the scourge of drugs. During the programme, CV Anand administered an anti-narcotics pledge to children and youth, spoke about the devastating impact of drug abuse on individuals and families, explained the supply-demand dynamics behind the drug trade, highlighted enforcement efforts, and called upon Telangana Police and educational institutions to actively participate in the fight against drugs. The awareness campaign is now underway across the State.

CV Anand Administers Anti-Narcotics Pledge to Children and Youth
As part of the campaign, CV Anand administered an anti-narcotics pledge to children and youth.
Addressing the gathering, he explained the devastating impact of drug abuse on individuals and families and discussed the supply-demand dynamics that drive the illegal drug trade.
He also outlined the enforcement measures being undertaken to curb drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Strong Warning Against Those Luring Youth into Drug Consumption
CV Anand warned that individuals who lure children and youth into drug consumption are committing “an act of betrayal against the nation.”
He stressed that drug abuse not only harms individuals but also affects families and society as a whole.
The DGP called for collective efforts to prevent young people from falling victim to narcotics.
Parents Urged to Stay Vigilant
During his address, CV Anand reminded citizens that no family should assume it cannot be affected by drug abuse.
He urged parents to:
- Remain vigilant
- Spend more time with their children
- Stay alert to any signs of drug abuse
- Maintain close communication with their children
According to him, parental awareness and involvement are essential in preventing drug-related problems among youth.
Telangana Police Asked to Treat Anti-Drug Fight as a Personal Mission
CV Anand called upon every rank of the Telangana Police to treat “the fight against drug abuse” as a personal mission.
He urged police personnel to work in coordination with all stakeholder departments to strengthen anti-drug enforcement and awareness activities across Telangana.
The DGP emphasized the importance of inter-departmental cooperation in combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
Anti-Drug and Safety Clubs to Be Made Mandatory
A major announcement made during the programme was that Anti-Drug and Safety Clubs will soon be made mandatory in educational institutions.
CV Anand said educational institutions must remain alert and promptly report any signs of:
- Drug abuse
- Drug trafficking
to the police.
He emphasized that schools, colleges and other educational institutions have an important role in preventing drug abuse among students.
Telangana Government Reiterates Commitment to a Drug-Free State
Through the EAGLE Telangana awareness campaign, CV Anand reiterated the Telangana Government’s commitment to making the State free from the menace of drugs.
