Delhi police arrest in-laws in Sana Khan’s live suicide case in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Delhi Police have apprehended the mother-in-law and father-in-law of Sana Khan in connection with a live suicide broadcast on Facebook.

Sana, a 32-year-old resident of Nacharam, took this extreme step after enduring relentless harassment from her husband and in-laws in Hyderabad.

The incident has shed light on the dark realities of inter-religious marriages and the tragic consequences they can lead to.

Sana Khan had entered into a love marriage with Hemant Kumar Patel from Rajasthan a few years ago, and the couple has a child together. However, their relationship took a devastating turn when Sana’s suffering became unbearable, ultimately driving her to attempt suicide live on social media.

Following the suicide, the Nacharam police received credible information regarding the whereabouts of Sana’s mother-in-law and father-in-law, who were residing in Delhi at the time. Acting swiftly, the police successfully arrested them in Delhi. Meanwhile, Sana’s husband is reported to be residing abroad, further complicating the ongoing investigation.

The tragic incident has drawn attention to the alleged mistreatment and harassment Sana faced after her marriage. Sana’s grief-stricken parents have accused Hemant and his family members of subjecting her to a relentless campaign of harassment, ultimately holding them responsible for their daughter’s untimely demise.

According to Sana’s parents, the couple initially met in Delhi five years ago, and their friendship evolved into a deep love bond. Hemant proposed to Sana three years ago in Hyderabad, promising to convert to her faith and assuming the name Shamsher.

The families, having given their consent, celebrated a joyous wedding and were blessed with a three-year-old son. However, what should have been a happy union turned into a nightmare for Sana, as she allegedly endured ongoing mistreatment at the hands of her husband and in-laws.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to caution young boys and girls against  inter religious marriages and prevent them from being trapped in abusive relationships.

Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sana Khan’s suicide, aiming to bring justice to her grieving family.
