DRI seizes 5 kgs of Cocaine worth Rs 50 cr at RGIA, Hyd

Hyderabad: Officials from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) successfully seized 5 kilograms of Cocaine at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, near here on Friday.
Acting on credible information, DRI officials apprehended an Indian passenger in possession of the contraband.
The Cocaine, discreetly wrapped in brown tape, had been artfully concealed in the false bottom of a checked suitcase and in the concealed compartments of four ladies’ handbags within the checked baggage.
A total of 5 kg of Cocaine, with an estimated value of approximately Rs. 50 crore in the international grey market, was recovered, as confirmed in a DRI press release on Saturday.
The apprehended passenger had arrived in Hyderabad from Laos via Singapore and was an route to Delhi when intercepted.
Cocaine, being a narcotic drug classified under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985, has been confiscated. The passenger has been arrested and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
Further investigations to trace the other members of this syndicate are underway.
