Early Salary & Pension for Kerala Central Govt Employees | Onam & Ganesh Chaturthi Holidays

Central government employees in Kerala and Maharashtra to receive August and September salaries and pensions in advance for Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi festivals. Kerala government announces bonus for Onam.

Kochi : In view of the ‘Onam’ and ‘Ganpati’ festivals, the government has decided that the salary, wages, and pension of all Central Government employees in the State of Kerala for the month of August 2023 and in the state of Maharashtra for the month of September 2023 may be drawn and disbursed by the Central Government offices, as per the office memorandum dated August 14, 2023.

The Ministry of Finance’s directives extend to the industrial employees of the central government serving in Kerala and Maharashtra as well. These diligent workers will receive their wages in advance, aligning with the disbursement dates mentioned earlier.

It’s crucial to note that the salary, wages, and pension disbursed ahead of time are to be treated as advance payments. Any adjustments necessary will be made once the full month’s salary, wages, and pension are determined.

The Ministry of Finance has not just issued these instructions; they’ve gone the extra mile to ensure their implementation. They have urged the concerned ministries and departments to communicate these directives effectively to their offices in Kerala and Maharashtra for prompt action. Additionally, they’ve roped in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to ensure that all paying branches of banks in these states are well-informed and prepared for the initiative.

As if the early salary and pension weren’t enough to uplift the spirits of central government employees in Kerala, the state government has another surprise in store. As part of the Onam celebrations, a generous bonus of Rs 4,000 awaits state government employees. For those not eligible for the bonus, a special festival allowance of Rs 2,750 will bring a festive cheer. Even service pensioners and employees who retired under the contributory pension scheme will receive a special festival allowance of Rs 1,000.

The decision to provide early salary and pension to central government employees in Kerala and Maharashtra exemplifies the government’s commitment to the well-being and happiness of its workforce. This timely and considerate move, along with the bonus for Kerala government employees, is a testament to the spirit of unity and festivity that runs deep within the Indian culture. As these gestures brighten the lives of employees, they also contribute to the jubilant atmosphere surrounding the Onam and Ganesh Chaturthi festivals.
