Efforts on to outsource the services of employees of Makkah Masjid and Shahi Masjid

The monthly salary of the Imams and khateebs of these two mosques is less than the salaries of the Home Guards working in the Makkah Masjid.

Hyderabad: The finance department is trying to outsource the services of all the employees of Makkah Masjid and Shahi Masjid Bagh-e-Aam, including the imams and khateebs.

In a latest order, the Finance Department issued GORT No. 1042 dated May 24, 2022, announcing that the services of all these 30 employees will be restored under a third party agency. It may be recalled that earlier also an attempt was made to outsource the services of these employees but after political interference the plan was withdrawn. Effective representation was also made with the government to regularize the services of these employees.

The Makkah Masjid and the Shahi Masjid, Public Garden are under the direct control of the state government, while the other mosques are either under the management of the Waqf Board or the local administrative committees or under the supervision of trustees.

The two mosques have a total of 30 employees, including an imam and a khateeb, who have been working on a meager remuneration for years. The monthly salary of the Imams and khateebs of these two mosques is less than the salaries of the Home Guards working in the Makkah Masjid. In spite of the fact that they neither avail weekly off nor they are allowed to take leave. And now with the passing of the government order, the finance department is further complicating the process of their salary release.
