Eid-ul-Adha: Raja Singh asks CM to stop sale of cattle

Hyderabad: Urging Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to instruct the gram panchayats against the sale of cattle for trade in view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival, Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh on Tuesday alleged that Muslims were slaughtering cows on Baqra’eid festival to hurt the sentiments and feelings of Hindus who worship cows as ‘Gaomata’.

Singh told this in a letter sent to KCR. He further asked the CM to stop the alleged illegal slaughter of cows and their progeny not only on Baqra’eid, but also for 365 days of the year.

The Hans India quoted the BJP legislator as saying, “I can challenge that all the registered legal slaughterhouses in the State are involved in illegal slaughter of healthy cattle.”

Urging KCR to constitute special police teams and a task force to watch the activities of butchers doing illegal business, he called for the rehabilitation of the rescued cows. Singh further suggested the government to set up special squads to prevent illegal sale of cows and calves.

Besides writing letter to CM, the BJP MLA also addressed a letter to the Director-General of Police M Mahender Reddy. He urged the DGP to direct officials to strictly deal with those transporting cattle illegally in Hyderabad.
