Massive Flood and Disaster Mock Drills at Necklace Road, Minister P Srinivas Reviews Rescue Operations
Telangana Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reviewed a massive flood mock drill at Necklace Road Hyderabad as part of statewide disaster management exercises involving NDRF, SDRF, HYDRAA and multiple departments.

Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy stated that protecting the lives and properties of people is the primary responsibility of the government. The Telangana Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister said rapid response, coordination between departments, and advance preparedness are crucial during emergencies such as floods, fire accidents, and industrial disasters.

As part of statewide disaster management mock exercises, the minister on Monday inspected a massive flood mock drill conducted at HMDA Grounds, Necklace Road in Hyderabad along with senior officials of various departments.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy Reviews Flood Mock Drill at Necklace Road
The large-scale flood mock drill was organized at Necklace Road HMDA Grounds in Hyderabad to strengthen preparedness for disasters including floods, forest fires, and industrial accidents.
During the event, Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the “Golden Hour” immediately after a disaster is the most critical period and that actions taken during that time can save lives.
He stated that such mock drills are extremely useful for shifting people to safe areas, carrying out rescue operations quickly, and coordinating emergency services during floods, fire accidents, and sudden disasters.
Minister Refers to 1908 Hyderabad Floods and Recent Godavari-Krishna Floods
The minister referred to the historic 1908 Hyderabad floods and the recent Godavari and Krishna floods, stating that history shows the extent of damage that can occur if authorities fail to remain alert during disasters.
He emphasized that technology, modern equipment, and trained teams should always remain ready to protect people’s lives.
Expressing concern over forest fires, the minister said such incidents are destroying greenery. He also stated that increasing fire accidents in urban areas are becoming a matter of serious concern.
The minister added that Telangana is studying rescue operations carried out across the world during disasters to create a more effective disaster management system in the state.
Rescue Teams Demonstrate Emergency Operations During Mock Drill
As part of the mock exercise, special teams demonstrated inflatable life boats, rescue techniques used to save people trapped in water, emergency evacuation methods, and coordinated rescue operations.
Later, the minister visited the Necklace Road Boating Club and reviewed the rescue activities carried out during the drill.
Officials and Departments Participate in Telangana Disaster Mock Exercise
Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy appreciated the large-scale mock exercises conducted across Telangana and congratulated the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Disaster Management Department, and district officials.
He clarified that people do not need to panic, as these are only mock drills conducted as part of advance preparedness measures.
The minister also urged that only responsible information should reach the public through media and social media platforms.
