GHMC Conducts Compost Awareness Sessions for RWAs Under 99 Days Action Plan in Hyderabad

GHMC Urban Biodiversity Wing conducted compost awareness sessions for RWAs in Hyderabad under the 99 Days Action Plan and trained 500 to 600 members.

As part of the 99 Days Action Plan under Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Urban Biodiversity (UBD) Wing conducted an extensive awareness session on compost formation for Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) in Hyderabad.

The programme was organized to encourage citizens to adopt sustainable waste management practices, promote household-level composting, and improve environmental conditions in the city.

GHMC Educates Residents on Composting Techniques

During the awareness programme, participants were educated on:

  • Waste segregation
  • Usage of compost bins
  • Compost maintenance techniques
  • Benefits of compost in gardening
  • Urban greenery development

Officials explained simple and eco-friendly methods to convert wet waste into organic compost.

The awareness sessions received a positive response from RWA members, who appreciated the initiative and assured support in promoting composting activities in their respective colonies.

28 Training Classes Conducted for 500 to 600 RWA Members

According to officials, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner conducted 28 training classes under the programme.

A total of 500 to 600 RWA members were trained through the awareness initiative.

Special drives were also arranged in:

  • Kisanbagh
  • Mettuguda
  • Kavadiguda

Officials conducted demonstrations on converting wet waste into organic compost using household methods.

GHMC Focuses on Cleaner and Greener Hyderabad

Officials stated that the initiative reflects GHMC’s commitment towards:
