Hyderabad: HYDRAA has established a strong CCTV surveillance system near lakes to prevent encroachments and illegal soil dumping. HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath on Monday inaugurated the CCTV monitoring system, under which 900 cameras have been installed and connected to the HYDRAA office server for continuous monitoring of lakes and surrounding areas.

HYDRAA Strengthens Lake Protection With CCTV Surveillance
HYDRAA has intensified monitoring around lakes to prevent illegal encroachments and dumping of soil and construction waste.
The CCTV cameras installed near lakes have been connected to the server at the HYDRAA office. Officials can now continuously monitor activities around lakes directly from the HYDRAA office control room.
The CCTV surveillance system was inaugurated on Monday by HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath.
900 CCTV Cameras Installed Across Lake Areas
As part of the initiative, nearly 900 CCTV cameras have been installed to ensure constant surveillance near lakes.
HYDRAA stated that the system will help identify:
- Illegal dumping of soil
- Disposal of construction waste into lakes
- Attempts to fill lakes with mud
- Encroachments around lake areas
Officials monitoring the control room will immediately alert Lake Protection Teams if suspicious activities are detected.
Integrated Monitoring Through Command Control Centre
The CCTV cameras installed near lakes have also been linked to the monitors at the Integrated Command Control Room in Banjara Hills.
According to HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, this integration will further strengthen surveillance and monitoring operations.
If vehicles are found dumping soil or waste, officials will identify the vehicle details and simultaneously alert the Lake Protection Team present at the location.
Senior Officials Participate in CCTV System Launch
HYDRAA Additional Director Varla Papayya and Additional Commissioner R. Sudarshan also participated in the inauguration of the CCTV surveillance system.
HYDRAA officials said the new monitoring mechanism has been introduced as an additional layer of protection along with the already existing Lake Protection Teams.
