Hyderabad: Telangana government overnment has taken a major decision on GO 111. The cabinet meeting was held for the first time after the inauguration of the new secretariat on Thursday. On this occasion, the Cabinet decided to withdraw GO 111.
The cabinet has announced that GO 111 is being withdrawn to benefit 84 villages of Rangareddy district in which construction activities can be carried out.
This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao. State Finance Minister T. Harish Rao informed about the decisions of the Cabinet while talking to the media.
It should be noted that two reservoirs Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar were built during the Nizam rulers to provide drinking water to the city of Hyderabad. Until a few years ago, these reservoirs met the drinking water needs of Hyderabadis. In 1996, the then government issued GO 111 for the protection of these important reservoirs to protect both reservoirs from pollution.
The water of these reservoirs gets polluted, it will have a serious impact on public health. According to this GO, an area of ten kilometers around the twin reservoirs was declared as bio conservation zone. 84 villages belonging to seven mandals of Rangareddy district come under this ambit. However, Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao announced the withdrawal of GO 111 in the assembly.
He had said that now water is coming from Godavari and Krishna rivers to meet the needs of Hyderabad city, in another hundred years there will be no shortage of drinking water for the city, so in the present situation GO 111 is no more needed.
The Chief Minister had announced in the Assembly that 111 would be lifted as soon as the report of the expert committee comes. And today in the cabinet meeting held at the new secretariat it was decided to withdraw the GO.
