New Delhi: In a significant announcement, the government has provided a major relief to individuals whose Aadhaar cards are over 10 years old and have never been updated. This move aims to facilitate the updating process for millions of citizens across the country.

The government has extended the deadline for the free update of Aadhaar card details until June 14. Initially set for March 14, this extension grants Aadhaar holders an additional four months to update their cards by uploading necessary identity and address proofs. It is advised to promptly take advantage of this opportunity if you haven’t already done so.

Failure to update Aadhaar cards in a timely manner may lead to interruptions in crucial tasks. Moreover, inaccurate information on Aadhaar cards can restrict access to various government schemes. However, there is no cause for concern as Aadhaar demographics can be updated for free through the myAadhaar portal. It’s important to note that this complimentary service is exclusively available on the myAadhaar portal.

Individuals opting to update their Aadhaar cards at an Aadhaar center will be required to pay a fee of Rs 50 for the service.

The Aadhaar card has emerged as a vital document in modern times, necessary for accessing government schemes, opening bank accounts, purchasing SIM cards, real estate transactions, and other financial dealings. Additionally, Aadhaar cards are essential for investments in fixed deposits and mutual funds.

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is urging individuals with Aadhaar cards older than 10 years to update their information to ensure seamless access to various services. Further details can be obtained by visiting myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
