Hyderabad: Telangana has been grappling with relentless heavy rainfall for five consecutive days, causing water bodies to overflow and raising the water levels of the Godavari River. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning, forecasting the formation of a fresh low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal on 24th July. IMD has advised caution as further rain is predicted in the state.

The situation in Hyderabad is particularly concerning, with half of the city being placed under a severe rain alert. The IMD has issued a heavy thunderstorm alert for the entire Hyderabad area, urging residents to stay vigilant and cautious. Schools in the state have been declared closed for two days as a precautionary measure against the heavy rainfall.

The situation in other districts of Telangana is equally challenging, with Hyderabad experiencing intense downpours that have resulted in traffic snarls and waterlogging. Areas like Siddipet, Jangaon, and Kamareddy have also been facing heavy rainfall. The Godavari River has swelled, and projects have received massive inflows, while the water level in Bhadrachalam has receded.

The IMD has issued an orange alert for Telangana until Friday, indicating the possibility of widespread rainfall with isolated heavy spells. The state government’s declaration of a two-day holiday for all educational institutions aims to ensure public safety during these adverse weather conditions.

As the situation unfolds, it’s crucial for residents of Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad, to stay alert and cautious due to the ongoing heavy thunderstorms and the possibility of further rain in the coming days. Follow weather updates and official advisories to stay safe during this challenging weather situation.
