Hyderabad: After Qutub Minar, Charminar to become site of a protest

If prayers can happen in Temple why not the mosque could be opened and permission be given for namaz.

Hyderabad: Days after Delhi’s Qutub Minar became the site of a protest, a signature campaign has been started to hold a sit in protest near the Charminar in Hyderabad. Congress Minority leader Rasheed Khan today initiated the campaign calling for the site to be opened for prayers.

It must be noted that namaz was stopped at the historical location some two decades earlier by the Archaeological Survey of India.

Announcing the launch of a signature campaign today with regards to a mosque near the Charminar, the TPCC Secretary said, “So I will take all the signatures and go to the ‘secular’ Chief Minister of Telangana…If our request is not addressed, we will sit in protest at the Pragathi Bhavan (CM Camp Office). Wrong promises are being made across the country on Mosques.” Times Now News quoted him as saying.

Rasheed Khan claimed that the Bhagya Lakshmi temple at Charminar is an unauthorised encroached Illegal construction. If prayers can happen in Temple why not the mosque could be opened and permission be given for namaz. If ASI is closing the mosque, then they should also think about the temple, he added.

The Charminar is a monument protected by ASI.
