Hyderabad: Case booked against Azharuddin, HCA
Fans have alleged that the tickets for the T20 match between India and Australia to be played on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium are being black marketed and the cricket association is being negligent in this matter.
Hyderabad: Police registered three cases against former captain and Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president Mohammad Azharuddin and other officials in connection with the stampede during the sale of tickets for the T20 cricket match between India and Australia to be played here on Sunday. Separate FIRs have been filed.
The local police registered an FIR on Thursday night on the complaint of cricket fans, the police said here on Friday. Fans have alleged that the tickets for the T20 match between India and Australia to be played on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium are being black marketed and the cricket association is being negligent in this matter.
It is also alleged that the ticket sales center at the Gymkhana ground in Secunderabad was badly managed and was dominated by anarchist elements. It is noteworthy that a stampede-like situation occurred during the sale of tickets in which six people, including two women, were injured and had to be admitted to the hospital.
Notably, the Hyderabad Cricket Association had already announced that all the tickets for the India vs Australia match had been sold out, though no data was made public for the same, after which the debate over ticket sales has started.
