Hyderabad Customs seized 2.271 kg of smuggled gold worth ₹3.36 crore at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad and arrested two passengers arriving from Kuala Lumpur.

A huge quantity of smuggled gold was seized at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad, Hyderabad, after Hyderabad Customs arrested two Indian passengers arriving on a flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Officials seized a total of 2.271 kilograms of gold valued at ₹3.36 crore. The passengers were intercepted following specific inputs and a case has been registered. Further investigation is underway.

DRI Alert Leads to Gold Seizure at RGIA Shamshabad

According to officials, the Customs Department acted after receiving a tip-off from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

Passengers arriving from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia were intercepted at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and subjected to detailed checks.

During the searches, officers discovered an unusual method allegedly used to transport the gold.

Gold Hidden Inside Special Compartments Sewn into Pants

According to the investigation, the accused had allegedly stitched special secret compartments inside the pants they were wearing.

Authorities stated that the large quantity of gold was concealed inside these hidden sections with the intention of escaping detection during airport screening.

Customs officials identified and recovered the concealed gold with the assistance of information provided by DRI officials.

The seizure marks another significant detection of smuggling at RGIA Shamshabad, where authorities intercepted passengers allegedly attempting to bring a large quantity of gold into the country through concealment.
