Hyderabad Fake Number Plate Case: Accused Arrested by Chaderghat Police

Hyderabad Traffic Police arrest Mohd Rafiuddin in fake number plate case (FIR 136/2026); accused altered vehicle number causing wrongful challans.

Hyderabad: In a major action against fake number plate usage in Hyderabad, the Hyderabad Traffic Police and Chaderghat Police Station have arrested Mohd Rafiuddin, a resident of Kurmaguda, Madannapet, Hyderabad, for tampering with his two-wheeler registration number.

The case has been registered as FIR No.136/2026 under Sections 319(2), 318(4) of BNS and Section 158 r/w 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act, and the accused was arrested on April 16, 2026.

How the Fake Number Plate Was Used in Hyderabad

During investigation, police found that:

  • The accused altered his vehicle number from TG11A1698 to TG11A1898
  • The tampering was done to mislead enforcement authorities
  • The fake number plate led to multiple traffic violations

Due to this manipulation, traffic challans were wrongly issued to the original vehicle owner.

Complaint by Vehicle Owner in Hyderabad Fake Number Plate Case

The case came to light after a complaint by Shaheen Begum, resident of Padma Nagar, Old Malakpet, Hyderabad.

  • She is the legitimate owner of vehicle TG11A1898
  • She reported misuse of her vehicle registration number
  • Multiple challans were generated against her vehicle due to the accused’s actions

Police took swift action:

  • Accused Mohd Rafiuddin arrested on April 16, 2026
  • Notice issued under Section 35(3) BNSS (corresponding to Sec.41 CrPC)
  • Case registered at Chaderghat Police Station
  • Further investigation is ongoing

The case was detected through joint efforts of Hyderabad Traffic Police and Chaderghat Police.

  • Using fake or tampered number plates is a serious offence
  • Strict action will be taken under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act
