Hyderabad: GHMC books 340 cases against illegal slaughtering of animals

The data from the municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) report reveals that Rs 19.4 lakh fine was collected from illegal slaughterhouses. Times of India reported.

Hyderabad: Even as tenders for establishing a modern slaughterhouse at Jiyaguda have been finalized, the veterinary wing of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has booked 340 cases against of illegal slaughtering animals and veterinary trade in the financial year 2021-22.

The data from the municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) report reveals that Rs 19.4 lakh fine was collected from illegal slaughterhouses. Times of India reported.

Besides that the first metropolitan magistrate court imposed Rs 5.3 lakh fine against violators. The officials confiscated around 1,197 kg of meat and 6,693 kg of beef during raids against illegal slaughterhouses across the GHMC limits. According to the data from the MA&UD report 3.83 lakh animals, including sheep, goat and cattle, were slaughtered across the three slaughterhouses run by the GHMC.
