Hyderabad: As per the instructions of V. C. Sajjanar, IPS, the Hyderabad City Police Task Force, Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), and local police staff conducted a surprise medical drug testing drive on rowdy sheeters, trouble mongers, and individuals with a history of regular drug consumption in NDPS cases on May 6, 2026.

The special drive was organized with the objective of creating awareness among drug consumers regarding the legal consequences they may face under the law.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force/H-NEW, and Andhe Srinivas, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Charminar Zone.
Drug Tests Conducted at Three Government Hospitals
The medical tests were conducted in coordination with doctors at:
- Osmania General Hospital
- Gandhi Hospital
- Government Hospital for Mental Care, Erragadda

Osmania General Hospital
- Total persons tested: 90
- Positive cases: 52
- Negative cases: 38

Counselling and Rehabilitation Conducted for Drug Consumers
Police stated that the individuals who underwent testing were counselled by psychiatrist doctors regarding:
- Harmful effects of drug abuse
- Importance of rehabilitation
- Legal consequences of drug consumption
According to the press note, appropriate legal cases are being booked against individuals who tested positive, as per law.
Hyderabad Police Reiterate Commitment Against Drug Activities
The Hyderabad City Police Task Force and H-NEW stated that they remain committed to taking strict action against drug-related activities while also helping affected individuals recover through counselling and rehabilitation programmes.
Police also appealed to the public to stay away from drugs and support a healthy and safe community.
