Hyderabad Police Identify 80 Critical ORR Accident Spots, AI-Based Traffic Enforcement Planned to Improve Road Safety
Hyderabad Police have identified 80 critical accident-prone spots on the Outer Ring Road and are planning an AI-based traffic enforcement system. Officials say 99% of ORR violations are repeat offences.

Hyderabad: To enhance public safety and prevent road accidents on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) around Hyderabad, authorities have intensified safety measures. A key coordination meeting chaired by Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, was held at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGICCC) on Friday, where officials reviewed progress on road safety initiatives, identified 80 critical accident-prone spots, and discussed introducing an AI-based electronic enforcement system on the ORR.

High-Level Coordination Meeting Held at TGICCC
The meeting was chaired by Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS.
It was attended by:

- HMDA Urban Forestry Director Rohit Gopidi, IFS
- Representatives from NHAI, GHMC, HGCL, and IRB Infra
- Traffic DCPs and Additional DCPs from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri
Officials reviewed the progress of decisions taken during the ORR coordination meeting held in May and discussed ongoing road safety measures.
80 Critical Accident-Prone Spots Identified on ORR
Speaking at the meeting, V.C. Sajjanar said that 80 critical spots had been identified on the Outer Ring Road where accidents are more likely to occur.
He added that enforcement has already been strengthened at several of these locations.
AI-Based Electronic Enforcement System Proposed
The Commissioner said authorities have decided to examine the feasibility of implementing an AI-based electronic enforcement system on the ORR.
According to him, the advanced technology will help detect various traffic violations automatically and enable quick enforcement action. He said the system could also help curb repeated traffic violations.
99% of Traffic Violations Are Repeat Offences
Sajjanar stated that nearly 99% of traffic violations recorded on the ORR involve repeat offenders.
He stressed the need to conduct extensive public awareness campaigns to bring about behavioural change among motorists who repeatedly violate traffic rules.
Vehicle Breakdowns Increasing Accident Risk
The Commissioner said vehicle breakdowns on the ORR are also contributing to road accidents.
He directed officials to ensure that broken-down vehicles are shifted to safe locations as quickly as possible and emphasized that vehicles should not be parked anywhere on the ORR, calling it extremely dangerous.
Motorists whose vehicles break down on the ORR have been advised to immediately call the 14449 helpline for assistance.
HMDA Assures Full Support
Speaking at the meeting, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmad said the safety of ORR users remains the top priority.
He assured that HMDA would provide all necessary infrastructure to improve passenger safety and work in coordination with all departments to make travel on the ORR safer.
He also said that safety measures are being implemented at accident-prone black spots.
