Hyderabad: The Ramgopalpet Police Station police swiftly recovered a forgotten bag containing ₹1,20,000 and safely returned it to its rightful owner after it was left inside an auto-rickshaw near KIMS Hospital. The incident came to light after Sri Sai Kumar approached the police on May 18, 2026, stating that he had accidentally left the cash-filled bag in an auto while arriving at the hospital for his father’s surgery. The police later traced the auto-rickshaw driver through CCTV footage, and the driver handed over the entire cash amount intact at the police station.

Sai Kumar Forgot Bag Containing ₹1.2 Lakh at KIMS Hospital
According to the press note issued on May 19, 2026, complainant Sri Sai Kumar arrived at KIMS Hospital at around 14:00 hours on May 18, 2026, in an auto-rickshaw for his father’s surgery.
Due to anxiety over the medical situation, he accidentally forgot his bag inside the auto-rickshaw.
The bag reportedly contained ₹1,20,000, which was meant for medical expenses related to his father’s surgery.
Ramgopalpet Police Launch Immediate Search Operation
Upon receiving the complaint, Sri B. Suresh Kumar, SHO of Ramgopalpet Police Station, immediately initiated action.
A specialized Crime Staff team was deployed, comprising:

- Constable B. Narsimha (30569)
The police team carefully verified CCTV footage along the route taken by the complainant.
During the investigation, the team successfully traced the registration number of the auto-rickshaw and located its driver.
Auto Driver Returns Entire Cash Amount Intact
Following prompt tracking by the police team, the auto-rickshaw driver arrived at Ramgopalpet Police Station and safely handed over the complainant’s bag.
Police confirmed that the entire cash amount of ₹1,20,000 was intact inside the bag.
The quick recovery brought relief to Sai Kumar, who had urgently needed the money for his father’s surgery.
SHO Felicitates Auto Driver for Honesty
Complainant Sri Sai Kumar expressed profound and sincere gratitude to the Ramgopalpet Police for their lightning-fast response and dedication during his hour of crisis.
In recognition of exemplary honesty, the auto-rickshaw driver was formally felicitated with a shawl by SHO Sri B. Suresh Kumar.
The SHO also commended the crime team for their efficiency and praised the auto driver for his integrity.
