Hyderabad: A strange smell emitted in the middle of the night at Hyderabad’s Tappachabutra and surrounding areas, creating panic among people. Residents spent the night on the road in fear.

According to sources, a strange smell spread in the air in Tappachabutra and many other areas of Hyderabad on Wednesday night. Locals mistook the smell for poisonous gas and rushed out of their homes and spent the night on the streets. It has been told that this strange smell started emanating after two o’clock in the night. People could not bear it and wore masks.
However, it was not officially explained whether the smell that started suddenly from midnight was a poisonous gas, a chemical or something else. Due to the stench, the local people were greatly disturbed and some families locked their houses and shifted to other places.
Some women and children fell ill and started vomitting. It has been reported that apart from Tappachabutra, the same situation prevailed in five other colonies as well, causing serious concern among the local people. Residents of Tappachabutra, Yusuf Nagar, Karwan, Nataraj Nagar and Mahesh Colony kept vigil throughout the night due to fear.
MIM corporator Zakir Baqeri immediately informed the police and municipal officials about the strange smell.
The smell lingered for two hours.
