Cadbury India, now known as Mondelez India Foods Private Limited, has held the supermarket management responsible for worms found in dairy chocolates purchased from a supermarket.
Hyderabad: Cadbury India, now known as Mondelez India Foods Private Limited, has held the supermarket management responsible for worms found in dairy chocolates purchased from a supermarket.
The company stated that the supermarket management had kept these chocolates in open display, whereas according to regulations, they should have been stored at a specific temperature.
Cadbury issued this statement after a customer purchased dairy chocolates from Ratna Deep Store at Amirpet Metro Station and found worms upon opening them. The customer had shared a video of this incident on social media.
A customer named Robin Zekeis, who shared the video of worms emerging and crawling in Cadbury dairy chocolates, tagged not only Cadbury but also Ratna Deep and the GHMC Commissioner.
Responding to Robin’s complaint, Cadbury held Ratna Deep Retail accountable, stating that the food retailer had stored the products openly and had not maintained the health standards in the outlet. They emphasized that behind every chocolate packet, there are necessary instructions regarding health standards and regulations.
Cadbury further stated that despite no manufacturing defect, they would offer a replacement chocolate as the customer had a bitter experience, for which they were not at fault. They expressed hope that the new chocolate product would meet the customer’s expectations.
Robin also raised questions about the quality check of expired products and the responsibility for public health hazards.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) tagged Cadbury Dairy Milk, Ratna Deep Supermarket, and shared the image of their bill along with the video of worms emerging from the chocolates.
