Speaking in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy challenged KTR over the construction of Indiramma houses in the state.
The minister stated that he would contest the next elections only if the Congress government constructs more houses than those built during the ten-year BRS rule. He further said that if more houses are built than during the BRS government period, KTR should stay away from contesting elections.
Political Exchange Continues Between KTR and Ponguleti
The exchange of political statements between the two leaders has intensified over the Indiramma housing scheme.
KTR had earlier challenged the Congress government regarding the construction of Indiramma houses in Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, and reportedly stated that he would take political renunciation if the claim was proved.
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy responded to KTR’s challenge through Twitter and defended the Congress government’s housing plans.
Cabinet Decides to Construct One Lakh Indiramma Houses in Hyderabad Corporations
Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated that during the cabinet meeting chaired by A. Revanth Reddy on May 23, it was decided to construct one lakh Indiramma houses in the three corporations of Hyderabad.
The minister also said that 4.5 lakh houses are being constructed in the state within the first two-and-a-half years after the Congress government came to power.
He remarked that people in villages who received houses under the Indiramma scheme know the benefits of the program.
Ponguleti Comments on KTR and BRS
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy stated that KTR would understand the impact of the Indiramma housing scheme if he visited villages and interacted with families who benefited from the houses.
He also commented that KTR would not understand the situation by staying in farmhouses.
The minister further said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would inaugurate the construction of 2.5 lakh houses on June 1.
Ponguleti reminded KTR that the Congress party had shown its strength in by-elections held after the Assembly elections.
He added that people were prepared to give “VRS” to the BRS in the next elections and remarked that KTR did not need to take political renunciation.
