Hyderabad: Telangana’s opposition party, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), intensified its campaign ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election, with working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launching a sharp attack on the ruling Congress government. Addressing a gathering at Telangana Bhavan, where several MIM leaders joined the BRS, KTR accused the Congress of “corrupting the state” during its two years in power and failing to deliver on its pre-election promises.
He alleged that the Congress misled voters with lofty assurances — promising gold for brides, scooters for young women, and pensions of ₹4,000 for the elderly — none of which, he claimed, had been fulfilled. “People should remember how the Congress came to power on false promises. This is the time to think wisely and respond appropriately,” KTR urged.

The BRS leader called on voters to reject the Congress in the upcoming bypoll, alleging that the ruling party was trying to sway voters with money. “They are distributing cash now; let’s see if they pay the rest later,” he quipped. He likened the political contest to “a battle between a car and a bulldozer,” asserting that the Congress government had “bulldozed the homes of the poor in the name of HYDRA.”
KTR further alleged that some Congress leaders were intimidating citizens but assured that the BRS would always stand with the people. He appealed to the electorate to vote for the BRS candidate, Maganti Sunitha, symbolized by the car, and ensure her victory by a wide margin.
The Jubilee Hills by-election was necessitated following the untimely death of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath, who represented the BRS.
