Man live-streams suicide on Facebook

In a suicide note, Zayed emotionally explained the sense of injustice he felt and also named several people in his letter accusing them of being unfair to him.

Cairo: Fed up with the constant arguments with his uncles over inheritance, a 31-year-old Egyptian man ended his life and live-streamed his death by suicide on Facebook. He ended his life by swallowing two poisonous pills.

Egyptian media identified the man as Omer Zayed. He swallowed two aluminum phosphide pills. They are commonly called “grains tablets” in Egypt as they are an insecticide used to protect crops.

He was rushed to the hospital by his cousins, but he died immediately after arriving there.

Al-Misri Al-Youm newspaper quoted the deceased’s wife as saying that Zayed had a dispute with his maternal uncle over inheritance.

He was upset because of the injustice done to him over the distribution of inheritance and because of these feelings he decided to end his life.

Zayed’s wife said her husband’s mental state collapsed due to constant arguments with his uncles over inheritance, adding that his uncles often assaulted him and made false accusations against him.
